The term “late-breaking” is often used to describe breaking news events that occur after the normal news cycle. Late-breaking news can include sports, politics, local news, and weather reports.
Recognizing that the results of some highly relevant, impactful research may not be fully available by the general abstract submission deadline, ISHLT will accept a limited number of late-breaking abstracts. Only those studies that report new information with results not available by the regular abstract submission deadline will be considered for a late-breaking abstract submission. Case reports and research previously presented will not be accepted.
Submitted late-breaking abstracts will be peer-reviewed and assessed for oral presentation at SLEEP 2025. Authors will be notified by December 18 of their decision regarding the status of their abstract. Abstracts that are deemed competitive for an oral presentation will be displayed on the Congress website and Congress app. Presenters of accepted late-breaking abstracts must be registered for the Congress and pay any applicable registration fees by May 24, 2023 to ensure that their presentation is included in the program.
Only one late-breaking abstract per presenting author will be accepted. The presenting author of a late-breaking abstract must be an SfN member to present at the Congress. Presenters of scientific or Theme K abstracts that have been accepted for oral or poster presentations must be registered for the Congress and pay any required registration fees by the early-bird registration deadline to guarantee inclusion in the published abstract supplement and on the Congress website and app.
